Please note: this CFC has been extended until Monday 17 April 2017.

With thanks to Ivan Herman we discovered that the table of contents was broken due to problems with the content of the specification. Xiaoqian kindly fixed it today, and we're extending the CFC deadline accordingly.

The CFC is available here: w3c/microdata#7

Sorry for any inconvenience this caused anyone.

The spec lacks any mention of Hixie's role in authoring the entire thing. His name was removed during the move to ReSpec a few days ago: w3c/microdata/commit/52daee2fb58871ea323fa4fa6f7c7324c8502519

Ah. well that would be a big bug.

Since it's effectively editorial, if a pretty serious thing, I'll make sure it gets back in there this week, and is there in any proper Working Draft.

Thanks for letting me know.

cheers

Fixing this bug is good.

Figuring out why this sort of thing happens, and making sure it doesn't happen again would be better.

Definitely.

Simple human error unfortunately. Something we can try to avoid but never protect against entirely.

Sure, simple human errors happen, but this is one that has happened multiple times, and that is harmful to the already tense relationship between W3C and WHATWG.

We could for example have a mandatory checklist for when republishing a spec from some other group, which includes "have you credited the original authors". Or maybe something else, if that's not appropriate/practical.

But repeatedly offending people is not good, and it's worth taking preventive measures.

Thanks for letting us know Tab. Hixie is now acknowledged as the previous editor [1].

Good idea. I've started a scratch checklist and would welcome additions and/or suggestions. w3c/WebPlatformWG/wiki/Spec-migration-checklist

This CFC received multiple expressions of support and one objection.

We have responded to the objection on the CFC, but in summary it relates to a matter of process that was addressed during the WebPlat charter review last year. As such it is out of scope for this CFC.

The CFC passes and we will begin the process of publishing the First Public Working Draft (FPWD) of Microdata.

Léonie.
