Dear Advisory Committee Representatives, Chairs,

The Director is pleased to announce the approval of the Service Workers Working Group charter: www.w3.org/2017/08/sw-charter.html

The group is chartered through 30 June 2019.

The mission of the Service Workers Working Group is to enable Web applications to take advantage of persistent background processing, including hooks to enable bootstrapping of web applications while offline.

The Working Group chairs are Jake Archibald (Google) and Jatinder Mann (Microsoft). Team Contacts are Michael[tm] Smith and Yves Lafon for a total of 0.1 FTE.

The group plans to have its first face-to-face meeting during the W3C's annual Technical Plenary week, November 2017, in US.
